Country overview

The Republic of Pirtuni lies in eastern Europe along the north shore of the Black Sea. Pirtuni is a representative republic with a history of corruption and sovereignty issues that remain from its prior membership in the United Federation of Socialist Republics. It is simultaneously antagonistic toward, and intrinsically linked with Donovia, who claims portions of eastern Pirtuni as its own. Pirtuni’s western-leaning, majority population seeks to formalize its status as a democratic, European nation through NATO and EU membership. But eastern-leaning minority populations block the path of democratic reforms in favor of alliance with Donovia and threaten stability in the eastern Europe.

Country capabilities

Land

The Pirtunian army has approximately 120,000 active-duty soldiers, with about 75% of its force composed of short-term draftees serving 24-month terms. The army's ground forces are primarily made up of mechanized infantry units, with some armor, airborne, and air mobile units, and are organized into regional operational commands with varying structures. The Pirtunian military also has a robust industrial complex that produces much of its own equipment and has recently begun producing American and European equipment under license, including unmanned aerial combat vehicles and anti-tank missile systems.

The Pirtunian navy has approximately 14,000 sailors and is divided into two territories, with headquarters in Kyiv and major bases on the Azov Peninsula and at Odesa and Mariupol. The navy's operations are complicated by the presence of the Donovian Black Sea Fleet, which is headquatered in Sevastopol and has maintained leases on naval facilities on the Azov Peninsula. The Pirtunian Naval Infantry conducts amphibious
operations, while the Sea Guard, a separate entity, is responsible for coastal security and falls under the command of the Border Guard.

Air

The Pirtunian air force has a range of missions, including border protection, troop transport, and close air support, and operates primarily with Tier 2 equipment and planes. The air force has a robust structure, with 45,000 personnel, multiple regiments and squadrons, and a headquarters in Kyiv, and can provide close air support to ground forces using its combat helicopter brigade and ground attack regiment. The Pirtunian air force is undergoing a shift in doctrine and tactics, influenced by Western training and partners, and is adapting to its conscript-heavy force and limited new equipment purchases by emphasizing flexibility and the use of temporary airstrips.

Cyber

Pirtuni has been a frequent victim of Donovian cyber aggression, prompting the country to prioritize the development of its cyber defences and invest in robust measures to protect itself from digital threats, with support from European partners.

Space icon

Space

The State Space Agency of Pirtuni (SSAP) is responsible for the country's space program and works closely with the Pirtuni Defence Industry to meet military and civilian needs. The agency was established in the 1990s from the remnants of the former UFSR space program and is headquartered in Dnipro. Despite not having a spaceport, SSAP operates ground control and tracking facilities in several locations and collaborates with foreign public and private space agencies to achieve its goals.
