The Democratic Republic of Gorgas, like Atropia, is a small yet fiercely independent state in a fragile and dangerous area, but without Atropia’s hydrocarbon assets. The country’s primary strength is geographical—its Black Sea ports and land borders make it a logical pipeline route and regional outlet to the outside world. Gorgas remains among the smallest and least economically developed nations in the region. It currently exists in a state of “frozen conflict” with Donovia over Donovian attempts to block Gorgas from NATO and EU membership, as well as Donovian support for Zabzimek and South Ostremek—two breakaway provinces formerly part of Gorgas.

Country capabilities

Land

Of the Caucasus countries, Gorgas fields the smallest army. The Gorgan Land Force is primarily a defensive force with little to no capabilities to project power outside its borders. It is primarily equipped with older Donovian legacy equipment.

Sea

The Gorgan Coast Guard has a very limited capability and operates exclusively within the Black Sea. Its main role is protecting coastal borders and patrolling rivers for illegal fishing. The majority of the Gorgan Coast Guard consists of patrol boats, fast attack craft and limited landing crafts.

Air

The Gorgan Air Force is a small defensive force equipped with modern combat aircraft of Donovian origin. It can provide a credible deterrent against her regional neighbours, but poses little threat to the regional hegemon such as Donovia.

Cyber

The Gorgan cyber capability is small and comprises of a single Information Warfare Company. Gorgas is trying to grow its cyber warfare capabilities, but limited funding means that she will always be outmatched by her regional neighbours.

Space

Gorgas does not have any space domain capabilities.
